Mixed Pipe and Electronic

If a church outgrows a fine old organ, or is able to replace a worn out and poor pipe organ with a redundant historic instrument that is not large enough for the church, and has a budget not large enough for a full pipe enlargement, a mixture of pipe and electronic is then a first class choice that is capable of resulting in a very exciting organ.

There already exist mixed pipe and electronic organs using  Musicom technology and they are so fine that organ builders are unable to tell which ranks are pipe or electronic.

Some
General
Notes

A typical sizeable organ has some 40 pipe ranks and 80 electronic ranks in a large church.  There is seamless balance between all ranks and divisions, and thrilling tone and presence through to full organ down to the bottom of an electronic large 32ft flue.

Many churches and even concert halls have fine organs of an earlier period, but lacking the tonal resources to play the full repertoire of organ music in the manner nowadays expected from a musical and musicological point of view.  These needs can be met with complete satisfaction by the addition of electronic departments and/or families of stops.

It must be clearly understood that electronic tone generation requires a thoroughly adequate loudspeaker system to be installed.  It must also be located so that the entire instrument sounds as one well balanced organ.  These points must be given very serious consideration by all concerned with the planning of  the installation.

Pipe organs go out of tune, but digital organs do not.  An overall tuning control will allow the general pitch of the electronic additions  to be finely adjusted for the best results as the pipe sections go out of tune; no noticeable discord results.
