The Russian Gnessin Academy
of Music

    The Russian Academy of Music is the first in Russia, and is a university school of higher learning, with students graduating in all categories of musical art.

Students,
suitably
qualified,
are accepted
from around
the world.

    RAM trains its students to become professional music instructors, awarding teaching degrees that enable them to teach in any music school.  Amongst the Academy's graduates are professors of conservatoires, institutes of arts, schools and colleges, directors and adminstrators of chairs and departments of music.

    Over the years some 12,000 young musicians have been trained, now working as instrumental and vocal soloists, conductors, directors, orchestral musicians, artists with ensembles, choirs, theatre orchestras, composers, musicologists, editors, critics, audio engineers, folk musicians, popular and jazz musicians.  400 of the Academy's graduatets have won prizes in various competitions.

    The 22 professorial chairs bring together more than 400 experts.  Amongst them are renowned artists who have gained worldwide recognition, winners of State prizes and presitigious international competitions, as well as doctors of science.

    The Academy has become the home of the first English cathedral organ in Russia, and of a small English organ in a small hall.
